But before I get to that, I want to keep talking about politics. But I'm sure that bores, oh, 95% of you readers out there. So we'll save this conversation for when we get home. Josh is playing smart these days, not willing to get in to a conversation where he doesn't quite know what to say or think. So my talk with him about democrats, republicans, Obama and policy didn't go too far. I mean, it's not like I know anything much. I know less!!! But, I want to understand and know more.
There's 2 things my brain just CAN'T quite understand: 1) government & 2) the stock market.
Anyways, we saw Bee's twin today! Tell us if you agree. He's famous now because he's in the new Wolverine movie. Great job, Bee!
Man, I want them to just keep on making comic book movies forever. I don't even care if they're bad. Well, really bad is another story. But I'll take my bad movie if I could see Ghostrider in real life. (BTW, Josh & I both liked that movie.)
And you know what? We still like Jackie Chan, in light of the media and peoples' taking whatever he said all out of proportion.

i like to listen to young people defend their beliefs because really they are defending ideals. ideals are great and all, and they set up the foundation of some people's beliefs. throw it all into the real world, and sometimes ideals can't stand for themselves. maybe in a perfect world, but not ours.
you can vote for your ideals. you have the right to vote for whatever you want. but one thing i do know. you shouldn't vote because of what you think might affect another person or not in something. you vote because of how it effects YOU in respect to others in your position. thats how you make your vote count.
wat about "love your neighbor as yourself"? just want to throw that out there. i happen to feel differently about it all and vern and i know we disagree haha, but its all good. we still are friends.
if i were EVER to be the richest person on earth (like bill gates or something!) i pray to God that i would still have the humility and love to give to others what they don't have. i take it on as part of my responsibility to care and love others because if i were in their place i would hope that others would give to me as well. (which these days i feel like i am because johan and i are so poor as students! haha.)

well if you are throwing that out there, you have just missed my point. my vote stands for others like me, furthermore, you can relate this with it.
God wants us to worry about our own salvation, and then others... my vote is for me, and then it will also help others.
i know we disagree, and we could go on forever and ever, and thats why we've probably had dinners that have gone on a little too long too. haha.. the more we talk, the more we come to an understanding of these issues and what the other person needs.
but i would hate it if this world were all the same as well. the most important thing is that you back up what you believe. a steak with no meat - blah.

no way man. i think a lot of believers don't want to talk about this kind of stuff cause they're not interested.
1) not interested and ignorant to the way other people [gov't] controls the forces around their lives.
2)and then they also don't really see the need in the world. for now, i think of it as the sinfulness of selfishness. they can't quite express or don't know how to love others who somehow do not have a relationship with them.
josh and i also hit this wall too-- that where you are in life greatly impacts your understanding of the whole 'system.' i.e., we live in china, have no kids, have not even tried to purchase a home.
i think we also disagree to our own perspectives!
the only thing that has really made us mad is gasoline taxes and sales tax! in my mind, how silly is that??!!
Politicians aren't economists! When you give a politician a blank check he/she will make decisions that help him/her to get re-elected. The decision isn't what's best for the country, it's what's best for the party. Both Republicans and Democrats do this.
For example, Bush put tons of money into the war because Republicans love war. Did war help the US as a whole? Probably not. It got him re-elected though. Today, Obama is putting in tons of money for government programs. He's also thinking about using government money to build highways, bridges, and so forth. He also bailed out the financial and auto industry. Will this help America? Maybe. Will it help him get re-elected? Probably.
I also think Christians define their faith by their political party. If your party believes that lying is okay does it all of the sudden mean that lying is okay for Christians? No! Some people who are affiliated with Democrats or Republicans don't believe in everything the party stands for. That's just being a robot and not having personal emotions. When we are convicted our political stance shouldn't even matter. It's about doing the godly thing.
If 5 million people believe in a lie, does it make it any less of a lie? It's still a lie. Even today it's difficult to put someone in a political party bubble. There are Democrats who are totally against Obama, and there are Republicans who love him. There is no loyalty.
